This 1 Guinea from Great Britain, minted in 1794, is a stunning example of the gold coinage during the reign of George III. Graded NGC MS 63, the coin showcases excellent preservation with sharp detail and brilliant luster. It is made of Gold 916, weighs 8.4g, and has a diameter of 25mm. With an estimated mintage of 80,000 coins, it remains a highly sought-after piece in the numismatic community, particularly in this well-preserved state.
Front:
The obverse features a beautifully rendered portrait of King George III facing right, adorned with a laurel wreath. The inscription "GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA" (George III, by the Grace of God) surrounds the portrait, affirming the king's divine right to rule.
Back:
The reverse displays the Royal Arms of Great Britain, featuring a shield divided into four quadrants representing England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. The inscription "1 GUINEA" is above the arms, with the year "1794" marked beneath.
