General Description:
This 1 Guinea from Great Britain, minted in 1798, is an excellent example of the gold coinage under the reign of George III. Graded NGC MS 64, this coin is in superior condition with brilliant luster and remarkable detail. Made of Gold 916, the coin weighs 8.4g and has a diameter of 25mm. With an estimated mintage of 80,000 coins, this 1 Guinea from 1798 is a rare find, with only 10 coins graded higher, including some with the highest grades of MS 65 and MS 66.
Front:
The obverse features the regal portrait of King George III, facing right, crowned with a laurel wreath. Surrounding the portrait is the inscription "GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA" (George III, by the Grace of God), emphasizing the king’s sovereignty.
Back:
The reverse depicts the Royal Arms of Great Britain, with a shield that symbolizes the union of the four nations: England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. The inscription "1 GUINEA" is displayed above the shield, with the year "1798" beneath.
