Israel - Pair of ”Beit Hatfutsot” Medals - 935 Silver, 39.03g, 45mm and Bronze - State Medal, 5738-1978 Beit Hatfutzoth was built on the Tel Aviv University Campus and was dedicated on May 1 5th, 1978 as one of the events marking the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Israel. The permanent exhibit, occupying three floors of the museum, is based on six central themes: the family, the community, faith, culture, relations with the gentile world, and return to Zion. Although the purpose of Beit Hatfutzoth is to portray the creative aspects of Jewish life in the Diaspora, a powerful expression is found there to the memory of Jewish martyrdom in the fifty-two lit-up scroll-panels, each one depicting a chapter in Jewish persecution. Beit Hatfutzoth also serves as a center for manifold cultural activities, for study and research. Obverse: The seven branched candelabra and the globe, a symbol of ties between Israel and the Diaspora. Stars of David spread out, an expression of the Diaspora. Below, the verse ”I will gather them from the coasts of the earth”, Jeremiah 31:8. The English translation is on the rim to the left. Reverse: An inscription, ”Beit Hatfutzoth” in Hebrew and the English translation ”Museum of the Jewish Diaspora”. The letter ”Tz” thicker - the museum emblem.
