Israel - Set of 3 medals ”Rotary Jerusalem Jubilee”, ”Hai Bar”, ”Shaarei Tzedek” - 935 silver, 47g (each), 45mm - Jerusalem Rotary Jubilee Official Award Medal, 5739-1979 The Jerusalem Rotary Club, the first Rotary Club in Palestine, was founded in 1929, sponsored by the Cairo Rotary. The Jerusalem Club celebrated its jubilee during the same month that the Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel was signed. Obverse A stylized figure ”50” is formed by the Rotary wheel together with an olive branch, the symbol of peace. Below, an inscription: ”Jerusalem Rotary Jubilee” in Hebrew and English. Reverse Jerusalem sights - sacred to the three monotheistic faiths. On the rim, the word ”Jerusalem” in Hebrew, Arabic and English. Hhai-Bar 1973 Numerous conquering armies have marched through the Land of Israel: Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Crusaders, Arabs, Turks. Sha'are Zedek Hospital 1973 Sha'are Zedek Hospital has been associated with the Jewish community in Israel for over a century. It commenced as a clinic inside the old city of Jerusalem, with the help of Jews from Europe. In 1902 Dr. Moshe Wallach's Hospital, the forerunner of Sha'are Zedek, was opened outside the city walls. The hospital kept vigil, guarding the people's health in times of plague, during riots and during intervals of calm. During the War of Independence, throughout the siege of Jerusalem, Sha'are Zedek was often under enemy fire, but its medical work did not stop. During the Six Day War and during the Yom Kippur War, the hospital admitted hundreds of wounded and performed hundreds of operations. In 1978, a State medal was issued in honor of the opening of the new Sha'are Zedek Medical Center.
