It was likely used as a protective amulet, symbolizing divine guardianship and blessing, common among the Jewish communities of Egypt and North Africa. Obverse: Central Star of David with the Hebrew divine name ”Shaddai”, surrounded by floral motifs and mystical symbols. Around the border appears the Hebrew inscription: ”Blessed are you in your coming and blessed are you in your going; through the merit of Jerusalem, may the Holy One grant blessing upon your homes.” Reverse: Simplified engraved Star of David at center, plain background, with a suspension loop at the top – indicating its use as a wearable or hanging amulet.
