Palestine - Rishon LeZion Medallion, Miniature Medal by Samuel Ruchomovsky - Odessa, Early 20th Century - Very Rare - A magnificent Jewish miniature medal designed by Samuel Ruchomovsky, one of the most notable Jewish artists active in Odessa in the early 20th century. Blending early Zionist themes of agricultural revival and spiritual longing, this medal forms a symbolic and artistic continuation of the 1882 “Rishon LeZion” medallion. Obverse: Farmers plowing and harvesting under a radiant sun, with the Hebrew inscriptions: “Lift up a banner toward Zion, be strong, stand not still” and “And the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing.” Reverse: Worshippers praying at the Western Wall within a Star of David frame, with the verse: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her skill.” An exceptionally rare and meaningful medal representing the early Zionist awakening and Jewish artistic creativity in Eastern Europe.
