Obverse: Portrait of Dr. Theodor Herzl facing left, with the inscriptions ”DR. THEODOR HERZL” in English and ”For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace” (Isaiah 62:1) in Hebrew. Reverse: View of Rishon LeZion similar to the 1882 original medallion - the fields of Rishon LeZion, the Hebrew year תרמ”ב (1882), the verse from Isaiah 41:27 ”The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them; and to Jerusalem I will give one that brings good tidings, ” and below the inscription ”Moshava Rishon LeZion.” A historically significant and very rare medal, representing both Zionist ideology and the pioneering spirit of the early settlers in Eretz Israel.
