Palestine - “Kisch” Sports Medal, Palestine Olympic Committee, 1940s - A rare sports medal issued by the Palestine Olympic Committee during the Kisch Championships, held in the 1940s in memory of Brigadier Frederick Hermann Kisch (1888-1943) – a leading Zionist figure, head of the Political Department of the Jewish Agency in London, and one of the key promoters of the Maccabi movement and Jewish athletics in Palestine. Brig. Kisch, a decorated British Army officer, was killed in action in Tunisia during World War II. The competitions bearing his name were established by the Palestine Olympic Committee to honor his contribution to Jewish national and athletic life.
