Palestine - Medal of the “La’amal” School, Jerusalem 1882-1900' - Very Rare - NGC MS 62 BN - A very rare medal, likely issued in the early 20th century by the La’amal (Labor) School in Jerusalem, an educational institution devoted to fostering values of work, learning, and community contribution. The medal was probably awarded as a prize for excellence to outstanding students or teachers during school ceremonies. Its design features local symbolic elements – a palm tree representing growth, prosperity, and deep roots in the Land of Israel. Educational medals from this era are extremely rare, and this example is among the few known to have survived intact. Obverse: A palm tree in the center, surrounded by the inscription “Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength.” Reverse: Hebrew inscription: “The School of Shimon Ma’atzili, La’amal School, Jerusalem.”
