These tokens were used in donation campaigns for the construction and maintenance of Jewish homes for the aged, symbolizing the compassion and communal solidarity of American Jewry. Obverse (various designs): Portraits of an elderly man and woman with inscriptions such as ”CONTRIBUTION HELP US AND GOD WILL HELP YOU ONE DOLLAR” and in some versions: ”TO PITY IS HUMAN TO HELP IS GODLIKE.” Reverse (various designs): Buildings of Jewish benevolent institutions, including: Home of the Sons and Daughters of Israel, 232 E. 10th St., New York Old Israel Home, 26 Henry St., New York Home of Sons and Daughters of Israel – Buy a Brick $100 Help Us and God Will Help You 301–225 East Broadway, N.Y.C.
