Judaica / Zionism - USA, Congregation Shaarey Zedek Token - Detroit, 1930 - Bronze Hanukkah token issued in 1930 (5691) by Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Detroit, Michigan, commemorating 68 years since the congregation’s founding (1862-1930). Obverse: Depicts the Shaarey Zedek synagogue building, surrounded by inscriptions in English and Hebrew: ”CONGREGATION SHAAREY ZEDEK” and ”קהלת שערי צדק”, with the founding date ”DEC 12 1862 DETROIT” below. Reverse: Features a seven-branched Menorah topped with a Star of David, the inscription ”CHANUKAH”, and the Hebrew year range ”5622-5691”. Around the rim appears the legend: ”BLESSED BE HE WHO COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD”.
