Judaica / Zionism - USA, Two “Priestly Blessing” Amulets - 1940s-1950s - Two identical amulets, one made of brass and the other of aluminum, both pierced for suspension. Obverse: Depicts two lions supporting the Tablets of the Law, with the inscription “Zion” above, and below appears “מזל - MAZEL” with a small Star of David between the words. Reverse: Features the Priestly Blessing in English: “May the Lord bless thee and keep thee; May the Lord let His face shine unto thee and show thee favor; May the Lord lift up His countenance unto thee and give thee peace.” At the center are hands in the priestly gesture of blessing. Such amulets were popular among Jewish communities in the United States and Europe during the mid-20th century, serving as symbols of divine protection and good fortune.
