Israel - 25 Mils 1949 - Close Link - Highest grade - NGC MS63 - A very challenging coin to grade, with only a few examples exceeding MS62. To date, 144 coins of this type have been graded by PCGS and NGC combined. At NGC, only five coins have achieved this grade – the highest known, while at PCGS, the top grade recorded is MS62. An exceptionally rare high-grade example, seldom offered for sale in this condition. A very difficult coin to grade, individuals getting grade over 62, in fact, in the NGC grading company only 3 are known to have received this rating (highest) and in PCGS, the highest grading is 62. After the establishment of the state in 1948, and until 1952, the mill (and the pound of Eretz Israel) served as legal tender. The only coin minted in the State of Israel was 25 mils. Front: ”25 mil” with 2 stylish olive branches. Back: Painted and inscribed: ”Israel” and painted a grape cluster. Of this coin, 650,00 units were minted in Jerusalem and Holon in few diffrent types. On September 6, 1950, the currency ceased to be used as legal tender. In 1952, with the transition from the Israeli mil to the Israeli pound, the name of the mill was changed to a Pruta.
