Designed by the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this series is celebrated as one of the most beautiful in American coinage history. Obverse: Depicts Liberty wearing a Native American feathered headdress – a striking fusion of American freedom and indigenous symbolism. Above appears the legend “LIBERTY”, with 13 stars around the rim representing the original colonies. The date appears below, with the “S” mintmark beneath it, denoting the San Francisco Mint. Reverse: Features a proud standing eagle resting on a bundle of arrows and an olive branch – symbols of strength and peace.
