Israel - 1 Agora 1960 - ”Large Date” Variety - Rare - PCGS UNC DETAILS - Israel - 1 Agora 1960 - ”Large Date” Variety - Rare - AU+ A highly rare coin that entered circulation by mistake. On this variety, the Hebrew date ”תש”ך” (5720) at the bottom of the obverse is significantly larger than on the standard circulation issue. The exact mintage is unknown, but estimates suggest around 300 pieces were struck. Since the 1960s, only about 150 examples have been observed - though some may have been counted more than once through trades between collections. This specimen is one of the few known examples and represents a notable and desirable addition to any advanced collection of Israeli coins. Obverse: Denomination ”1 Agora” in the center, with the enlarged Hebrew date ”תש”ך” (5720) below - the distinctive feature of this rare variety. Reverse: A central wheat ear in a clean, detailed design, surrounded by a smooth border and the inscriptions ”Israel” in Hebrew and Arabic.
