Israel - 25 Mils 1949 - Close Link - Half Link - PCGS UNC DETAILS - At the upper part of the coin's obverse, a missing link in the design can be observed, the result of a minting error. This detail adds unique numismatic character and historical interest, reflecting the complexity of the minting process of the time. After the establishment of the state in 1948, and until 1952, the mill (and the pound of Eretz Israel) served as legal tender. The only coin minted in the State of Israel was 25 mils. Front: ”25 mil” with 2 stylish olive branches. Back: Painted and inscribed: ”Israel” and painted a grape cluster. Of this coin, 650,00 units were minted in Jerusalem and Holon in few diffrent types. On September 6, 1950, the currency ceased to be used as legal tender. In 1952, with the transition from the Israeli mil to the Israeli pound, the name of the mill was changed to a Pruta.
