Palestine – First Check of the Anglo-Palestine Company – August 4, 1903 – Extremely Rare and Historically Important - A historically significant check issued by the Anglo-Palestine Company, the institution that later became Bank Leumi le-Israel. This example comes from the very first series of checks issued by the bank, dated August 4, 1903 – just one week after the opening of its first branch in Jaffa. Bearing the serial number 103, this is undoubtedly one of the earliest checks ever issued by the bank at the dawn of its operations. The establishment of the Anglo-Palestine Company in Jaffa marked the beginning of organized Jewish banking in the Land of Israel, providing financial infrastructure that supported agricultural settlement, commerce, and early Zionist enterprise throughout the country. An exceptionally rare and historically invaluable document, representing the financial and institutional foundations of the modern Jewish settlement in Palestine.
