Palestine – First Check of the Anglo-Palestine Bank Signed by David Levontin – September 13, 1903 – Extremely Rare and Historically Important - An extraordinary historical document from the Anglo-Palestine Company, the first Jewish bank established in the Land of Israel and the forerunner of Bank Leumi le-Israel. Dated September 13, 1903, this check was issued only one month after the opening of the bank’s first branch in Jaffa, and bears the original signature of David Levontin, the bank’s first director and a key figure in the early economic development of the Yishuv. This is an exceptionally rare example from the bank’s first series of checks, and notably, it is a check written by Levontin to himself – a document of great historical and institutional importance, symbolizing the birth of modern Jewish banking in Palestine.
