Palestine - Art Deco Style Check of the Anglo-Palestine Company - 1920s - Similar to the Example in the Sidney Olson Collection - Historically Important - A rare and visually striking Art Deco-style check issued by the Anglo-Palestine Company, the first Jewish bank in the Land of Israel and the precursor to Bank Leumi le-Israel. Its bold typographic design represents the artistic transition from early 20th-century conservative styles to the elegant modernism of the Mandate period. This check closely resembles the example illustrated in “Sixty Economic Documents from the Land of Israel” – The Sidney Olson Collection, pages 64–65, and stands as a fine example of financial and artistic design of the 1920s. The check is historically connected to the early settlement of Menahamia, one of the first moshavot (Jewish agricultural villages) in Palestine, and bears reference to Moshe Shnidman, a key local leader and one of the pioneers of the Jordan Valley region. An important and rare historical document that beautifully intertwines the artistic, economic, and pioneering heritage of pre-state Israel.
