Palestine - The Anglo-Palestine Company Ltd. Debenture for the Jewish National Fund - 1909 - Bezalel Design - A magnificent and historically important debenture issued in 1909 by The Anglo-Palestine Company Ltd. for the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kajemeth Le Jisroel). The bond represents a loan of 1,000 Francs at 4% interest, provided to the JNF to fund mortgages for members of the Ahuzat Bayit association, the founding neighborhood of Tel Aviv, for the construction of their homes and businesses. Bearing a low serial number 58, out of only 300 issued, this certificate stands as one of the earliest examples of Zionist financial cooperation in the Land of Israel. Beautifully designed in the Bezalel School style, with ornate Hebrew motifs and signed “Bezalel Jerusalem” at the lower center. An outstanding and extremely rare document — among the most iconic and artistically impressive historic financial certificates of pre-state Israel.
