Palestine – Pair of Early Checks from the Anglo-Palestine Company – Jerusalem Branch, Signed by Tiberias and Hebron Branches – Early 20th Century – Extremely Rare - A remarkable pair of early Anglo-Palestine Company checks, issued by the Jerusalem branch and bearing signatures and cachets from the Tiberias and Hebron branches – a highly unusual and historically significant combination. These belong to the bank’s third series of checks, dating from the early 1900s, during the formative years of modern Jewish banking in Palestine. Check in favor of Mr. Perlmann, issued for a religious institution (yeshiva), featuring official handstamps and ink annotations. Check made payable to a reverend of the Scottish Church in Hebron, illustrating the bank’s wide-ranging intercommunal financial operations at the time. Both checks bear Palestine E.E.F. fiscal stamps, “PAID” cancellations, and handwritten signatures of bank officials. Documents of this type are exceptionally rare, reflecting the early expansion of the Anglo-Palestine Company across the region and offering a direct glimpse into the emergence of organized financial life in the Land of Israel.
