Israel - 14th Maccabiah Medal, 1993 - 935 Silver, 26g (net 24.31g, 0.78 ounces), 37mm - The 14th Maccabiah Games took place in Israel from July 5th-15th, 1993, with the participation of some 5,500 Jewish athletes from 50 countries around the world. The Maccabiah is the largest Jewish sporting event. It was established in 1932 and continued after Israel achieved statehood. Now, for the first time since World War II, delegations from Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cuba and Aruba, are taking part. The 14th Maccabiah consisted of 34 types of competition, special events for veterans, a youth Maccabiah and games for the disabled. In addition to the sports, cultural events and trips designed to strengthen the bond between Israel and the Diaspora took place. The slogan of the 14th Maccabiah is ”This Time Like No Other”. Reverse: Three runners with Jerusalem in the background.
