Maestro Arthur Rubinstein was one of the most celebrated pianists of the twentieth century and a legendary figure in international music. Deeply connected to the Jewish people, the State of Israel, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Rubinstein agreed to lend his name and patronage to the international competition in Jerusalem, elevating it into one of the world’s leading piano competitions. Obverse: Artistic portrait of Arthur Rubinstein in relief. Reverse: Around the rim appears the inscription: “Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition - Jerusalem” alongside the emblem of the State of Israel. At the center appears the English translation of the inscription together with the year of issue for each medal.
