Israel - Group of 129 Telephone Tokens and Metal Sign - Ministry of Communications and Israel Post - Large and interesting group including 129 Israeli telephone tokens from different periods, together with an original Hebrew metal sign. The telephone tokens were issued for use in Israeli public telephones prior to the introduction of phone cards and modern dialing systems. One side bears the inscriptions “Ministry of Communications” and “Israel Post”, together with circular numeral patterns and various letter markings. The other side features the Israeli postal emblem surrounded by a Hebrew year, with the inscription “Telephone” in both Hebrew and Arabic below. Included in the lot is an original metal sign bearing the Hebrew inscription: “Telephone tokens may be purchased אצל דרוויש” together with a directional arrow. The tokens and sign constitute interesting collectible items related to Israeli exonumia and the history of communications services in Israel. Overall good-very fine condition, with typical circulation wear, usage marks, and patina.
