The collection is devoted to historic landmarks, national events and prominent figures associated with German history. Each coin has a denomination of 3,000 CFA Francs and is struck in .999 fine gold, weighing 1/500 oz - approximately 0.0622g of pure gold - with a diameter of 18 mm. The ten coins contain a total of 0.02 oz of pure gold, approximately 0.622g. The subjects represented in the collection include Wartburg Castle in Thuringia, Magdeburg Cathedral in Saxony-Anhalt, Willy Brandt’s Warsaw Genuflection, Sanssouci Palace in Brandenburg, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German Bundesrat, Helmut Schmidt, Charlottenburg Palace, the Porta Nigra, the Dresden Zwinger, the European flag and German unity. Obverse: The coat of arms of the Republic of Chad, comprising a shield supported by a lion and a goat, together with the inscription RÉPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD. The denomination 3,000 FRANCS CFA appears below. Reverse: One of the landmarks, events or individuals associated with German history and heritage. The designs bear the name of the featured subject, stars and the inscription 999 FINE GOLD. The stated limitations vary between designs. According to the accompanying certificates, the Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt coins were limited to 25,000 pieces each, the Brandenburg coin to 50,000 pieces, and the Warsaw Genuflection coin to 250,000 pieces. The coins are housed in capsules and rigid display holders and presented in an original album inscribed Deutsche Wahrzeichen & Ereignisse in Gold - Offizielle Goldmünzen aus 999 Feingold. The album contains German-language information and certificates of authenticity for part of the collection. The album, holders and certificates show signs of storage and handling.
