Australia - 1 Dollar 2013 - Australian Saltwater Crocodiles, Bindi - .999 Silver, 31.1g, approx. 31.07g pure silver (1 oz), 40 mm - Colour Printed Proof - A colour printed silver coin from the Australian Saltwater Crocodiles series, issued by the Royal Australian Mint. The coin is dedicated to ”Bindi”, a famous female saltwater crocodile from Australia Zoo. According to the certificate, Bindi was caught by Steve Irwin as part of the East Coast Crocodile Management Program, and Steve Irwin named his daughter after Bindi because she was his favourite crocodile. Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the inscription ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2013, indicating the monarch, issuing country and year of issue. Reverse: Colour printed depiction of the head of a saltwater crocodile, with the inscription SALTWATER CROCODILE, and BINDI - ONE DOLLAR. The lower field states the metal and weight: 1 oz .999 Ag, meaning one ounce of .999 fine silver. According to the certificate: denomination 1 Dollar, fine silver 99.9%, mass 1 oz, diameter 40.00 mm, Colour Printed Proof finish, designer Aaron Baggio, and a limited mintage of 5,000 pieces. Certificate number: 001540. The coin is housed in its capsule and original Royal Australian Mint presentation packaging with certificate of authenticity. Overall very nice condition, with light storage marks on the capsule and packaging, as shown in the photos.
