Israel - Pair of Kinetic “Israel” Medals 1987 - Silver .925, 40g (Approximately 37g Pure Silver, 1.19 oz), 50 mm and Bronze, 55g, 59 mm - Impressive pair of Israeli kinetic medals issued in 1987, featuring a unique modernist design combining movement and changing geometric forms. Kinetic art, more than any other artistic movement, reflects the spirit of the twentieth century – speed, transformation, and technological innovation – while attempting to “bring life” into the artwork through actual movement. The medal is composed of three moving parts: an inner square featuring a stylized menorah on one side and a geometric Star of David on the other. The square rotates within a hollow hexagon, while the hexagon itself moves inside an outer ring bearing the artist’s signature. The constantly changing arrangement created by the rotating elements emphasizes the dynamic nature of the artwork.
