Israel - Albert Einstein Official Medal, Centennial Symposium, 1979 - Silver 935, 47 g (Approx. 43.95 g Pure Silver, Approx. 1.41 Troy oz), 45 mm - An impressive official Israeli medal issued in 1979, marking the centennial of Albert Einstein’s birth, in connection with the Jerusalem Centennial Symposium held in Adar 5739 / March 1979. Albert Einstein, 1879-1955, was one of the greatest physicists of the 20th century, a noted humanist, and a Nobel Prize laureate in physics. His theory of relativity revolutionized modern physics and had a profound impact on the development of scientific thought. In 1933, Einstein arrived in the United States and served as a professor at Princeton University until his retirement from teaching in 1945. Alongside his scientific achievements, Einstein maintained a close connection with Zionism and with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He became involved in Zionist activity in 1921, worked actively on behalf of the Hebrew University, and bequeathed his manuscripts to the university, including important scientific writings.
