Alderney - 2007 Five Pounds Coin ”Henry VII 1485-1509” - The House of Tudor Series, The Royal Mint, .925 Sterling Silver Plated with .999 Fine Gold, 28.28 g (26.16 g Net Silver, 0.84 Troy Ounce), Proof, Mintage 30,000, with Information Leaflet - A Five Pounds commemorative coin issued by Alderney in 2007 as part of The House of Tudor series. The coin commemorates Henry VII, King of England from 1485 to 1509 and founder of the Tudor dynasty. Henry VII came to the throne following his victory at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. His marriage to Elizabeth of York in 1486 helped unite the House of Lancaster, symbolized by the red rose, with the House of York, symbolized by the white rose. His reign also saw the introduction of new coinage, including the gold sovereign and the silver shilling. Obverse: The right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The designer's initials, IRB, appear below the portrait. The surrounding inscriptions read: ALDERNEY ELIZABETH II 2007 Reverse: A portrait of King Henry VII at the center, accompanied by a heraldic shield to the left and the Tudor Rose to the right. The reverse was designed by David Cornell. The inscriptions read: HENRY VII r.1485-1509 FIVE POUNDS The coin is struck in .925 sterling silver plated with .999 fine gold. It has a gross weight of 28.28 grams and contains 26.16 grams of net silver, equivalent to approximately 0.84 troy ounce. It measures 38.61 mm in diameter and was struck to a Proof finish.
