Great Britain - Sterling Silver Ingot “Harthacnut - The Disinterment of Harold Harefoot” - 1,000 Years of British Monarchy Series - John Pinches, .925 Silver, Approximately 66 g (Approximately 61.05 g Net Silver, 1.96 Troy Ounces) - A sterling silver ingot from the 1,000 Years of British Monarchy series, issued by John Pinches and dedicated to a millennium of British royal history. The series comprises 50 ingots, each depicting a monarch or a significant event in the history of the British monarchy. The ingot commemorates Harthacnut, King of England from 1040 to 1042, and the disinterment of the body of his predecessor and half-brother, Harold I, known as Harold Harefoot. After taking the throne, Harthacnut ordered Harold’s body removed from its grave at Westminster and dishonoured. According to historical accounts, the remains were thrown into a fen bordering the River Thames or into the river itself, and were subsequently recovered and reburied.
