The series comprises 50 ingots, each depicting a monarch or a significant event in the history of the British monarchy. The ingot commemorates Edward IV and the introduction of the art of printing to England by William Caxton. An English merchant, translator and printer, Caxton established a printing press at Westminster in 1476 and became the first person to print books in England using movable type. His work contributed greatly to the circulation of English-language books and to the development of the written language and literary culture of the kingdom.
