Canada - Lot of 4 Voyageur Silver Dollars - 1954 and 3 Coins Dated 1966 - .800 Silver, Total Weight 93.32 g, Approximately 2.4 Troy Ounces of Pure Silver - A lot comprising four Canadian Voyageur silver dollars: one coin dated 1954 and three coins dated 1966. Each coin is struck in .800 silver, weighs approximately 23.33 grams and measures 36 mm in diameter. The four coins have a combined weight of approximately 93.32 grams and contain about 74.66 grams of pure silver - approximately 2.4 troy ounces. The obverse of the 1954 coin bears the young portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Mary Gillick, and the inscription: ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA The obverse of the 1966 coins features an updated portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Arnold Machin, and the inscription: ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA The reverse of each coin features the Voyageur design by Canadian artist Emanuel Hahn. It depicts a French-Canadian voyageur and a First Nations man paddling a canoe loaded with trade goods. An island, pine trees and stylized lines representing the Northern Lights appear in the background. The initials HB on the cargo refer to the Hudson’s Bay Company. Bank of Canada Museum The country name, year of issue and denomination appear around the design: CANADA DOLLAR Contact marks, scratches and varying degrees of toning are visible on the coins.
