France - Lot of 2 Hercules 50 Francs Coins - 1974 and 1975 - .900 Silver, Total Weight 60.08 g (54.07 g Net Silver, 1.74 Troy Ounces) - A lot comprising two French 50 Francs ”Hercules” silver coins dated 1974 and 1975. The design is based on the celebrated work of Augustin Dupré and is regarded as one of the most iconic coin designs of the French Republic. Both coins are struck in .900 silver. Their combined weight is 60.08 grams, containing approximately 54.07 grams of net silver, equivalent to approximately 1.74 troy ounces. Obverse: The allegorical figures of Hercules, Liberty, and Equality are depicted at the center beneath the national motto of France. The designer's signature appears below the design. The inscriptions read: LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ Reverse: The denomination ”50 FRANCS” appears within a wreath of oak and olive branches, surrounded by the inscription ”REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE”. The dates 1974 and 1975 appear below on the respective coins. The inscriptions read: REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE 50 FRANCS The coins are struck in .900 silver, with a diameter of 41 mm and a standard weight of 30 grams each. The condition of the coins is as shown in the photographs. Light handling and storage marks are visible.
