Israel - The Seven Species 2006 - Set of 7 Ancient Jewish Coin Replicas - 2 Pure Silver and 5 Bronze, 27mm Each - A special set comprising seven replicas of ancient Jewish coins, issued in 2006 as a joint project of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation and the Israel Antiquities Authority. The set is dedicated to the Seven Species associated with the Land of Israel: wheat, barley, grapevine, fig, pomegranate, olive and date. The set contains five bronze coins and two pure silver coins. Each replica recreates an ancient coin type depicting one of the Seven Species, based on coins from different periods of Jewish history. The replicas were produced using a striking method intended to reproduce ancient minting techniques. The prepared flans were manually positioned between two dies and struck in a press. As a result, minor variations in centering and strike may occur. The replicas were approved by experts of the Israel Antiquities Authority. Composition: 2 pure silver replicas and 5 bronze replicas. Diameter: 27mm each. Production: Shahar Ovadiah and Ron Granot. Design adaptation for striking: Aharon Shevo. Dies: Tidhar Dagan. The replicas are housed in individual capsules within a wooden display frame, with Hebrew and English identification plaques for each of the Seven Species. Accompanied by the original outer presentation case and information booklet.
