Biography from Galerie Bassenge, Berlin: Affortunato Gori, who called himself Fortunato Gori, studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence in the class of Augusto Rivalta before going to Paris to study with the French sculptor Victorien-Antoine Bastet. As a sculptor, Gori worked in bronze, marble, ivory and zinc, often combining the material and creating chryselephantine works that are stylistically committed to Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
