This salesman sample is believed to have originated pre-war and advertises for the Cling-Surface company. Founded in 1896 by Albert Barnes Young, Cling-Surface manufactured dressings to prevent slippage of power transmission belts. During World War II the company produced dubbing for shoes and other leather products for use in the military. On the sample, you see two weights tied to belts. One of the belts was treated by Cling-Surface while the other was not. The weights can each be hoisted from their resting position by use of the belts, showcasing the superiority of Cling-Surface belts. This sample measures 10" x 5.5" and stands at 6" in height when sitting on a level surface.
