Late 19th C. Hand-Painted Porcelain Hair Receiver - C-19058 c. 1870s-1880s; Reinhold Schlegelmilch - Prussia (Germany) Turn-of-the-century porcelain hair receiver produced by Reinhold Schlegelmilch and bearing the green R.S. Prussia wreath mark. The domed lid features a central circular opening and is decorated with softly shaded peach and ivory roses against a warm, blush-toned ground with subtle atmospheric blending. The rounded lower body continues the floral treatment, creating a cohesive, painterly surface typical of early R.S. Prussia vanity wares. Hair receivers were a standard component of Victorian and Edwardian dressing tables, used to collect loose hair from brushes for later repurposing in hairpieces or decorative keepsakes. The form is compact and symmetrical, with a smooth, minimal foot and well-fitted lid. The delicate floral rendering and muted tonal transitions reflect the refined aesthetic associated with early Schlegelmilch production. Condition is good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Light surface marks and minor discoloration along the lid opening consistent with use. No major cracks or structural breaks observed. 4.5” Diam.
