Socony-Vacuum Oil Advertising Pail - C-20954 c. 1951; Socony-Vacuum Oil Company, Inc. - New York, NY Five-gallon metal oil pail retaining partial Pegasus branding and original Socony-Vacuum Oil Company markings in red, white, and blue enamel finish. The container features a wire bail handle with wood grip and crimped lid rim construction typical of mid century petroleum and service station packaging. Base embossing indicates manufacture by G.P. & F. Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin with dated 1951 markings. A strong industrial display piece connected to early Mobil and Pegasus gasoline advertising history. Heavy surface wear, oxidation, scratches, staining, and paint loss throughout consistent with age and use. Significant rusting to one side as shown. Lid remains in place.
