The wrought iron billet bars extend rearward to support firewood within the hearth while elevating logs for improved airflow during burning. Their elongated proportions and understated classical detailing reflect Colonial Revival interpretations of early American fireplace furnishings popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Surface wear, oxidation, scratches, and age-related patina throughout consistent with use near heat and ash. Iron billet bars exhibit rust and surface deterioration.
