1972 Gottlieb Grand Slam Electro-Mechanical Pinball Machine - This single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine was manufactured by D. Gottlieb & Co. of Chicago, Illinois, USA. Released in 1972, the Grand Slam model features a comprehensive baseball theme. The machine is constructed with a wood cabinet, metal legs, and includes a glass-covered playfield and a glass backglass housing the score reels. The backglass depicts a baseball player mid-swing with an umpire in the background, set against a target-motif design. It features a five-digit point counter and a two-digit counter for runs. The playfield layout is designed as a baseball diamond and includes a central Roto-Unit spinning target, two pop bumpers, two flippers, and various lanes and targets designated for single, double, triple, and home run scoring. This particular unit is an export model configured for the United Kingdom market. The metal front plate is stamped with Manufactured for Mondial Exclusively for Export and D. Gottlieb & Co. 165 W. Lake St. The coin entrance is fitted with a red display indicating Play 5p. Visible inscriptions include Gottliebs Grand Slam and D.
