Passover Haggadah - Arbah Yesodot, Amsterdam 1783.

A complete copy of the ‘Arbah Yesodot’ Haggadah, containing the laws and customs observed during Passover, as well as a concise commentary on the Haggadah. Written in Judeo-German/Yiddish. Authored by R. Elchanan Schneitich of Amsterdam, and printed with the approbations of Amsterdam’s leading Ashkenazic Rabbis, such as R. Shaul of Amsterdam, his brother-in-law R. Shaul HaLevi of The Hague, and R. Aryeh Loeb Breslau of Rotterdam.

Interestingly, on pp. 13b, when describing the commandment of eating the bitter herbs (Maror), the author defines it according to different countries and languages. Most notable is that of “the language of England, [it’s called] Lettice”.

A very interesting and well received edition of the Passover Haggadah. Rare in fine condition such as this copy.

A near excellent copy in very fine condition.

[2], 54 pp.
