The Amsterdam Tanach - Biblia Hebraica, Amsterdam 1667 - An attractive copy of the one of the most popular editions of the Tanach. Printed and edited by famed Dutch printer Joseph Athias who fled from Spain. Because of the exacting standards used when preparing this edition for print, it quickly became well-known for its accuracy. As such, many subsequent editions of the Tanach printed throughout the 18th and 19th centuries were based on this edition. Printed with the approbations of the Torah leaders of the Sephardic community. They praise the publisher for the immense effort he put into this edition so it shall be as accurate as possible with no printing errors. Interestingly, the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch was very fond of this edition and would use it to recite Tehillim and read the Haftorahs on Shabbos. His personal copy, with his marginal notes and additions, is currently held in the Chabad-Lubavitch Library in New York. Four parts bound in one volume, with a separate decorative title page for each part. Contains Torah, Nevi’im Rishonim, Nevi’im Acharonim, and Kesuvim. Bound in original leather binding. Spine partly damaged. [19], 178; [1], 2-155, [1], 157-316, [1], 318-508, [2] pp. Page size: 20.5cm
