Sefer Yesod: Sefer Mitzvos Gadol – Semag, Venice 1547. Daniel Bomberg Press - A complete, fine copy of a most fundamental work, Sefer Mitzvos Gadol, otherwise known as Sefer Semag. Authored by R. Moshe of Coucy, this work deals with the 365 negative commandments and the 248 positive commandments, separately discussing each of them according to the Talmud and the decisions of the Rabbis. In his introduction to this work, he writes how thus work came about. As he traveled far and wide to speak about the 613 commandments and how to properly fulfill them, he was asked by many to author a Sefer detailing all the various commandments and their sources. At first, he decided against it. He simply didn’t feel worthy of this endeavor. However, later on, as related in his introduction, a heavenly vision was revealed to him instructing to write such a work in two volumes, one covering the positive commandments, and another for the negative commandments.  First Edition to include the additions and annotations of R.
