Sefer Yad David, Offenbach 1799 – A Fine Copy, First Edition - Sefer Yad David, Offenbach 1799. First edition of the fundamental work on Berachos and Seder Moed, authored by R. David Sinzheim, Chief Rabbi of Strasbourg. A very fine copy, with virtually no signs of wear.  R. Yosef David Sinzheim (1745-1812), a leading Torah scholar and one of the greatest Torah personalities of France during the 18th century. He is perhaps best known after his work “Yad David”, which was printed on Seder Moed during his lifetime.  Perhaps most famously, in 1806 R. Sinzheim was tasked by Napoleon to convene on a makeshift “Sanhedrin” established under his rule. His rulings were ultimately met with satisfaction by Napoleon and the commission.  A very fine copy, with beautiful marbled edges, often seen in French literary works.  [2], 288 pp.  Page size: 32.5cm
