Mission Church Rectory Bank - Unknown American Manufacturer. Roxbury, Ma. - Ca. 1880's - 8” Long. The Collection of Mike HenryIllustrated P. 36 in Peirce Book. The original Mission Church was built in Roxbury, Ma. in 1870. The rectory building was added at the turn of the century. It's possible that this bank was utilized as a parishioner alms box to collect funds to build the rectory. The present example is a dazzling nickel-plated specimen chosen for inclusion in Bob Peirce's book Cast Iron Building Banks. Condition: Remarkable Nickeled Patina.
