Early 20th Century Czech Style Mottled Blue Glass and Paste Brooch - An early-to-mid 20th-century costume jewellery brooch of oval form, designed in the Czech filigree style. The piece is centred with a large oval cabochon of mottled deep-blue glass intended to imitate lapis lazuli. The central stone is secured in a rim setting and is surrounded by a decorative border of alternating small, round-cut blue glass paste stones and openwork metal foliate motifs resembling the fleur-de-lis. The brooch is constructed from a non-precious base metal, likely brass or a copper-based alloy, with a darkened patina. The reverse features a simple pin with a tube-style hinge and C-clasp mechanism. No maker marks or purity hallmarks are present.
