The central circular boss depicts a Tudor crown on a red enamel ground, surrounded by a white enamel ring inscribed with the words BAND OF HOPE. The medal features a quatrefoil design with four dark blue enamel lobes; the vertical lobes are accented with Maltese crosses, while the horizontal sides feature fleur-de-lis projections. The piece is suspended from a short section of blue ribbon with a metal bar-type pin-back mount.
