Bidspirit auction | A mid-20th century novelty brass

A mid-20th century novelty brass cat corkscrew - A mid-century modern novelty corkscrew in the form of a stylised cat, designed by Walter Bosse and the Vienna Black Gold series. The piece is cast in brass with a dark patinated body and a polished brass face and tail. This design is frequently associated with the Austrian designer Walter Bosse, though visually identical examples were also produced in England under the Gunga Din brand during the 1950s. The item is currently unmarked, with the underside of the feet showing an irregular cast texture. The corkscrew component is securely fixed into the rear of the feline figure to form the tail.
