A George V Sterling Silver and Tortoiseshell Mounted Glass Powder Jar by Arthur and John Zimmerman, 1924 - A George V sterling silver-mounted glass powder jar or trinket bowl produced by the silversmiths Arthur and John Zimmerman. The circular clear glass body is fitted with a plain, polished sterling silver rim. The detachable lid features a circular panel of tortoiseshell, finished with a silver border and a central mushroom-shaped finial. The finial is inset with a matching tortoiseshell cabochon. The silver rim bears a full set of English hallmarks including the maker mark A & J Z surmounted by a crown for Arthur and John Zimmerman, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the date letter Z for 1924.
