A Collection of 22 Victorian Studio Portrait Photographs and Cartes de Visite - A collection of approximately 22 late 19th-century studio portrait photographs, primarily in the Carte de Visite (CdV) and cabinet card formats. The collection features a variety of Victorian-era studio portraits depicting men, women, and children in formal period attire, including individual portraits of women in bustled dresses and high-collared formal wear, and men in three-piece suits and military-style jackets. The cards bear printed marks from several Victorian photographers, primarily based in the Midlands and London, including G. Caldwell at the Rembrandt Art Studio, Carrington Street, Nottingham; J. Caloe & Son of Basford and Bulwell; Stanley of 23 Hertford Street, Coventry; Charles Koenig of 313 Edgware Road; W. Watson of Nottingham; Pearson Photographic Artist; The Newisham Studio; and J. H. Woodall. Several cards feature contemporary handwritten pencil or ink inscriptions on the reverse, including the name Miss Booth and a signed card from S. J. Whiles at The Shakespeare Studio.
